The Spectrum Series retains the educational ideals of The Signature Series, but at a slightly more difficult level. These charts are graded from level III to level IV. The brass ranges are slightly more demanding, generally to a Bb concert, and the rhythms are more challenging. There are open solos for any member of the band, with solo sheets provided to help the director in teaching improvisation. The rhythm parts are written out, and chord symbols are also provided. $40.00 each.

Blues For The Cap-Grade III; Blues for the Cap is named for legendary bandleader and airline pilot Captain Pete Petersen. This is a straight-ahead blues in the Basie tradition with lots of ensemble work and open solo space for everyone.

Brillo’s Pad -Grade III; Brillo’s Pad is a very playable straight-ahead Basie style blues that can feature your outstanding soloists. The modulation at the end causes the chart to really lift, and head to an exciting climax. Fun to play, and accessible by most bands.

Choose Your Blues- Grade III; Choose Your Blues was commissioned by Larry Green at Valley High School in Des Moines, IA. It is a very playable straight-ahead Basie style blues that can be opened up to feature your outstanding soloists. A unique feature of this chart is that there are interchangeable ensemble sections so that your strongest section can be featured. Fun to play, and accessible by most bands.

For Charlie-Grade III; For Charlie was commissioned by the Springfield, Missouri music educators in memory of Charlie Loeber, Springfield’s supervisor of public school music. The chart is a Thad Jones style 16 bar blues that features the trombone section.
