are more difficult, and are designed for more mature bands.

This slow blues is sure to challenge the best
of bands. Great ensemble passages, and solos for
trumpet and tenor sax. This one is not for the
timid.

Blues at Drury-Grade
IV-V; Blues at Drury was composed
for the Jim Widner Big Band at the Drury College
Jazz Camp in Springfield, MO. It is a romping
Thad style blues that features solos by bass,
tenor, trumpet and trombone.
The solo sections can be opened up so that all
of your strong soloists can be featured. There
is a big sax soli, and the chart closes with a
roaring ensemble section that is full of dynamics.
This is a great festival or concert hart.
Blues At Drury is also recorded on "Yesterdays
and Today" by the Jim Widner Big Band (Chase

Bossa For My Buddy-Grade
IV; Bossa For My Buddy was commissioned
by Jim Davis at West Liberty High School in Iowa.
It features a haunting melody played by tenor
sax, fluglehorn and flute (optional). There is
a challenging sax soli, and solo space for flute,
tenor, flugel and piano. The chart changes to
a swing feel at the end for a romping close. This
chart will provide a perfect change of pace for
your next concert or festival, and provides an
opportunity to feature your outstanding flautist
from the concert band.

EQC
– EQC-0304 (grade V); EQC
is a funk chart that will have your band and
your audiences rocking from the start! Very
contemporary funk, features alto and guitar
solos, or can be opened up for anyone in the
band! A great festival closer.

Festival-Grade V;
Festival was commissioned by Tim Ishii, director
of jazz studies at Texas Wesleyan University in
Ft. Worth, TX. It was designed as a solo vehicle
for Dave Mancini, outstanding drummer and percussion
clinician who is currently the drummer for Doc
Severensen. Festival is an up-tempo samba that
features trumpet, tenor and guitar on the head.
There is solo space for trumpet and tenor, but
could be opened up for guitar or piano as well.
There is a space for an extended drum solo that
can include your auxiliary percussionists as well.
A very exciting chart, Festival is a great choice
for contest or concert, and is sure to be a real
crowd pleaser.

The General’s
New Groove - Grade V-VI; The General’s
New Groove is a shuffle that is irresistible.
Great ensemble passages, solos for tenor and trumpet,
and a great sax soli will make this chart a tour
de force for the advanced band. It was commissioned
by Herb Kost for the Grant High School Jazz Band
from Portland, OR.

The Joshua Song-Grade
IV; The Joshua Song was commissioned
by Cara Pollard, jazz director at Joshua High
School in Joshua, Texas. It is a high-energy contemporary
chart inspired by legendary New York guitarist
John Scofield. It has been performed at the Drury
Jazz Camp and the Lone Star Jazz exchange. Your
students will love this one.

New To Say-Grade V;
New to Say was commissioned by Greg Ball, director
of Jazz Studies at Tarleton State University in
Stephenville, Texas. It was inspired by Maria
Schneider, and is a very contemporary swing chart.
It features your drummer’s brush technique,
and has solos space for alto and tenor saxes.
A nice contrast to any program.

Samba Libre-Grade V;
Samba Libre is a jazz samba which
will have your band cooking from beginning to
end. Solo space for alto, tenor, trumpet, trombone
and percussion as well as plenty of exciting ensemble
work. A perfect vehicle for a Latin tune in your
set.

Serenity
Garden– SG-0202 (grade V);
Serenity Garden is a beautiful ballad featuring
trumpet or flugelhorn. Beautiful contrapuntal
scoring keeps the chart interesting for everyone
in the band. Includes a double time improv section.

Trojazz Blooz-Grade
V; Trojazz Blooz was commissioned
by Keith Umbach at Newman Smith High School in
Carrollton, Texas. Trojazz opens with a sax soli
that can be played accapella or with rhythm section.
The band joins in for a swinging blues that features
lots of ensemble and plenty of solo space. Perfect
for concert or contest.

Who Woulda Thought-Grade
V; Who Woulda Thought was commissioned
by Terry Martinez, director of the jazz program
at St. Charles West High School for their performance
at the 1999 Midwest Band and Orchestra Clinic.
The chart is a roaring samba with solo space for
trumpet and trombone. A unique feature of this
chart is a drum/percussion feature with band accompaniment.
Who Woulda Thought would be a great set closer
for contest, and a real crowd pleaser for your
next concert.

Whirlwind-Grade VI;
Whirlwind was commissioned by Terry
Martinez at St. Charles West High School in St.
Charles, Missouri for their performance at the
1998 Missouri Music Educator’s Association
conference. Based on “Rhythm” changes,
Whirlwind is an up tempo tour de force feature
for your trumpet section and for the entire band.
Plenty of solo space and lots of roaring ensemble
make Whirlwind a perfect opener or closer for
any set.
